Matthew Routley Senior Support Staff BMus, PGCE

Matthew started playing a brass instrument at King Henry VIII Comprehensive
School Abergavenny in 1984 under the guidance of Alun F. Williams (the
current Deputy Head of the Gwent Music Support Service). He originally
started on baritone but after two years progressed onto the tuba. He has
Grade 8s in Tuba, Piano and Theory of Music (100%).mr.jpg (24297 bytes)

Playing experience at youth level has included the Gwent Youth Band, the
National Youth Brass Band of Wales and the National Youth Brass Band of
Great Britain.

Matthew has played with Black Dyke Band since June 1995 (and is currently a
player's representative on the Operational Management Committee), and before
that he played with YBS Band and Sellers Band.

Matthew is a tuba tutor with the Gwent Youth Band, the National Youth Brass
Band of Wales and the National Children's Band.

He is currently Head of Music and Drama at an independent school in Salford.
