Movern Gilchist PGCE
Movern comes from Scotland and has played Assistant Principal cornet for
Black Dyke for the last five years. She teaches music in the Manchester area.
Morvern
started playing cornet and the age of 10 with Campbeltown Brass in
Scotland.
She has many achievements including Principal Cornet of the NYBBS for 4 years during which time she became the Scottish Junior Solo Champion and was
voted Best Instrumentalist in the British Youth Championships in 1995.
Morvern studied at the Royal Northern College of Music between 1995 and 1999 when she gained BMus (Hons) and a Diploma in Professional Performance.
She now works as Head of Music at Brookway High School in Wythenshawe, Manchester.
Morvern was proud to be awarded the Pondashers Award in 2004 at Black Dyke. She
has taken part in many Youth Band courses and also gives Private Tuition. Some of the courses that she has been a cornet tutor include:
